Library Extension Service Programs
LES programs are authorized by MAJCOM s to provide specialized assistance for
personnel who don't have access to established library and information services.
Programs and services provided are based on local conditions and identified
requirements of the community served.
Learning Resource Center Programs
LRC programs are established at forward locations to provide deployed personnel with
access to informational and educational resources where other education and library
resources do not exist. Education resources include college course testing, counseling,
distance learning, and correspondence or independent study courses. Library
resources, services, and programs provide on-site collections and on-line databases for
educational research and recreational activities. Funding for expeditionary operations
supports the LRC facilities, programs, services, and materials. The unit task code
(UTC) LWLRC provides the manpower and operations statement. LRC programs may
have set hours of operation and are serviced by responsible MAJCOM under the
administration of the installation commander.
