Notes:
1. The modifier C1 includes a statistical adjustment factor, "PR ", and a location adjustment factor, "n",
as defined in section 1.6.1.3 in Prestandard and Commentary for the Seismic Rehabilitation of
Buildings, Nov. 2000, FEMA-356. The value of "n" is taken as 0.59 for locations outside of the
continental US.
2. This table is valid at locations where the Mapped MCE spectral acceleration for short-periods, SS,
is less than 1.5g.
b.
Load Combinations: combine earthquake forces with other loadings according to paragraph
3-5 of this UFC.
c.
Seismic Analysis and Structural Performance: Follow the provisions of Marine Oil Terminal
Engineering and Maintenance Standards, June 2003, California State Lands Commission Marine
Facilities Division, Section 4, as modified below.
Replace "MOT" with "Piers and Wharf Structures"
Replace Section 4.1.3 with the following: "Piers and Wharves shall be categorized into one of three
risk classifications (high, moderate or low) according to SUG.
SUG III = High Risk Classification
SUG II = Moderate Risk Classification
SUG I = Low Risk Classification
Retitle section 4.2 "Existing and New Piers and Wharves".
Delete section 4.3 in its entirety.
Structural Analysis and Design of Components: Follow the provisions of Marine Oil Terminal
Engineering and Maintenance Standards, June 2003, California State Lands Commission Marine
Facilities Division, Section 7 as modified below.
Replace "MOT" with "Piers and Wharf Structures"
