Foreword
T h e Design Guide (DG) series has been established to replace material
p r e v i o u s l y issued under the standard design medium by the Engineering
Division, Military Construction Directorate, Office of the Chief of
E n g i n e e r s , U.S. Army.
T h i s guide governs the design of Army officers and NCO clubs. Army
o f f i c e r s and NCO clubs provide for the morale, welfare, and recreational
s u p p o r t of their members and authorized guests.
T h e guide is intended not only to state basic criteria,- but also to
p r o v i d e a means by which the user of the guide can apply the criteria in
i n d i v i d u a l ways to respond to local requirements.
This guide is applicable
t o all new construction projects for Army Clubs and projects involving
modernization of existing faciIities.
D e t a i l e d development of this guide was under the direction of the Special
Projects Section, Structures Branch of the Engineering Division. Major
p a r t s of the material contained herein are based on the results of an
architectural services contract with the firm of BuiIding Systems
D e v e l o p m e n t , S a n F r a n c i s c o , C a l i f o r n i a , under Contract No. DACA 73-74-C-
0003.
T h e functional requirements in this guide have been developed in
c o n j u n c t i o n with, and approved by, t h e Club Management Directorate of the
U.S. Army Adjutant General Center, (DAAG-CM).
