Unattended locations should have remote monitoring capability. In this case,
alarm contacts for loss of ac power and low dc voltage should require the capability to
support remote monitoring.

BATTERY PROTECTION .
14-3.1
NEC Article 240.21 (2002 Edition) requires that "Overcurrent protection shall
be provided in each ungrounded circuit conductor and shall be located at the point
where the conductors receive their supply...". Install a circuit breaker or fused
protection device as close to the battery as possible because the battery is the power
source during battery discharge. A circuit breaker or fused disconnect switch also
allows battery disconnection for maintenance or repair.

Provide overcurrent protection for each string in a parallel battery system.
