Stringing/Removing Conductor Ground Locations
I.
General.
A. Ground all stringing equipment such as reel stands, pullers, tensioners, and other
devices.
B. Provide a safety barrier around the equipment.
II. Running ground. Install a running ground between pulling and tensioning equipment and
their adjacent structures.
III. Stringing blocks.
A. Ground stringing blocks at first and last structures, and at least every 3.2 kilometers(2
miles) in between.
B. Ground stringing blocks at each structure on both sides of an energized circuit being
crossed.
C. If the design of the circuit interrupting devices protecting the lines so permits, the
automated reclosing feature of those devices should be made inoperative.
5.3.10 Grounding for Stringing and Removing Lines. Locate grounds to
meet requirements of Table 28 and Figure 8. After conductor pulling, locate grounds in
accordance with Table 29.
